Life's Little Moments

Impossible...

...to resist red birds in the snow!  Although, honestly, just about any bird in the snow is fun.  This cardinal had been picking seeds out of the snow and was sporting a little white goatee, very dashing.

The 4-6 inches of snow in the forecast ended up being about an inch, even though it snowed much of the morning.  Happily, the walkways, patio and driveway all held enough heat that the snow melted immediately, requiring no human intervention.  Yay.  Now the snow has stopped but the winds have cranked up and it's bitter outside.

Jax and I had our second Nosework class today and he did so well!  He was very interested in the other dogs (a 3-year old Shepard and a spaniel puppy) but he seemed to understand that he wasn't allowed to greet or play with them.  This week the instructor upped the difficulty level of the scent hides a little and I have to say that Jax was really good at finding the target hides.  We had to go around one course twice but it was mostly because he got distracted sniffing other things.  What I like is that he really seems to be enjoying this.  And he is sound asleep now - bonus!

It is hard to believe that three years ago, we were headed into a pandemic.  As I think back on that time (and look back at my Blipfoto journal) I realize how little we actually knew.  Maybe it was just as well that we didn't know.

I am leaning towards dark with ginger today.  Maybe 2 squares.
