In remembrance

My distant relation Samuel Deaville Bannister was born on this day in 1876. I knew that he died in the First World War but hadn’t looked into the details. However, a quick internet search produced a link to his death on the Somme in August 1916, aged 41. I don’t know what made him join the Royal Berkshires at this late stage of life. He was a bachelor, so this was the end of his branch of the family tree. We will remember them.
