Leaving Bishopbriggs

While the sun was shining early this morning I decided to do another couple of squares on my badger survey, this time going by train to Bishopbriggs, much faster than the bus. I followed the Thomas Muir (not to be confused with John Muir) trail which took to me to the dilapidated ruin of Huntershill House and the grounds backing onto an industrial estate. Amongst all the detritus I found a large sett with at least 7 entrances, sadly all dormant. An outlier sett about 200m distance also looked unoccupied. After I’d taken the necessary details it started to snow quite hard making it impossible to do any further investigation. I returned to Glasgow. In the city Sainsbury’s I met a couple of rambler chums I hadn’t seen since the summer. Beside the canned tomatoes we caught up on several months gossip. They are well versed in badgers since several live under their next door neighbours decking and have been active all winter, digging up their lawn and unperturbed by car headlights, unbelievable.
