Condensation Illumination
The weather still hadn't improved first thing this morning when I took my brother up to the station and to be frank I wasn't really looking forward to yet another gloomy day.
I didn't really feel like doing a run today either - I'd already done five this week and yesterday I got absolutely drenched in a downpour - but I got myself motivated, did some exercise, began to shake off the glumness and started to look forward to the evening. I love Friday nights - any worries I have seem to have evaporate and I just enjoy having a relaxing time, a pint on the way home with my brother after picking him up from the station, some take-away food or a ready meal, a few glasses of wine, good telly and listening to some music.
As the day wore on the weather actually started to improve and there was even a glimpse of sunshine long enough for me to capture today's images. These old garden lights just caught the light which illuminated the condensation and water droplets from some earlier rain helping to produce all these shapes, patterns and bubbles. I liked it so much I've included a moody mono version too as an extra!
The evening was just as good as I hoped it would be. We thoroughly enjoyed our pints (the atmosphere's always great in The King and Kven on a Friday night) and the food and wine when we got home. This was followed by our now traditional viewing of a 'vintage' episode of Top of The Pops on BBC4 (we currently up to March 1994) and the rather wonderful Guy Garvey: From The Vaults on Sky Arts - two decades of TV gold from the provincial pop archives, taking you through some era defining musical performances, long lost studio appearances and revealing interviews. This particular instalment included performances and recordings from 1984 from the likes of Frankie Goes To Hollywood, John Martyn and Robert Palmer, Shane MacGowan and even a very young Roddy Frame. Fabulous stuff!
