Extreme weeding

It’s a shame that the good weather couldn’t have lasted just one more day so that our community orchard work party could have remained dry and relatively clean. As it was, we all got a bit wet and rather muddy, but it was amazing how many folk turned up despite the weather and how much was achieved in a couple of hours. Some new trees were planted to replace those killed off by the rabbit abuse, all the remaining trees had their rabbit protection checked and improved where necessary and all the soft fruit bushes in the fruit cage were weeded and manured. I took this shot while we were having a coffee break in the shelter. There was also the bonus of some scrumptious home-baking to give us encouragement to continue.
