Hay on Wye

My first visit to Hay on Wye, and it is very pretty, but probably a good job that someone opened a secondhand book shop which led to it becoming a mecca for book lovers. I think otherwise it would be a run down town struggling to survive like many others across the country. However , it isn't and there are many touristy shops, and cafes and the like. I spotted a lovely little yarn shop but resisted buying any. I am proud of my self!

This is the castle getting ready for the Hay Festival which starts this week. Just luck on our part that we got there the week before, or else we probably wouldn't have got a parking space or a seat in a cafe!
