Mom

15 April 1922 - 11 March 2002.  Mom had just turned 19 in this picture taken the summer before she married dad on December 21st two weeks after Pearl Harbor was bombed.  A world war was raging in Europe, a war dad would take part in a few years later, but she looks so happy here.  The original photo was black and white and very faded, so I played around with it, colorizing it and giving it a painterly feel.  I still think of her every March 11th.  I gave the eulogy at her funeral on March 13th. In it I mentioned her favorite film, the Wizard of Oz.   When the wizard gave the Tin Man his heart he was told, "Remember, it isn't important how much you love but how much you are loved by others."  Rest in Peace, Mom.
