Can’t be many place-names with two fs together. Its Wiki entry is brief. Andrew Brons, former National Front activist and BNP MEP apparently lives in the village. And the Percys built the castle some 700 years ago.
A walk round the village completed, I can report that the pub kept their Landlord in excellent condition, and despite the snow swirling down outside, the bar was fine and cosy.
