Ugandan Bricks
Believe me...this shot was much more interesting about 30 minutes before it was taken. The mud bricks were in the middle of being 'burnt'. The bricks are molded out of clay and then set in the sun to harden. Once hard enough they are stacked into these enormous mounds which are easily 6 meters high. Outside the mound, you take more mud and pack it around the stack of dry bricks thus making a kiln. There is a hole in the middle of the kiln and in this hole you shove all sorts of fire wood and burn the wood for days. The smoke comes out of the top and creates a very interesting scenario. Oh...that I could have caught all of this in a very interesting shot.
But, alas, I am stuck with this shot. I was tired and sweaty from a morning jog and by the time I got back to this location, nothing was goin on and I had to get to work...you now find the mud-kiln in the for of the photo and the sun-dried bricks in the back awaiting their creation into the next kiln...
