Rambling day

My cousin and her husband came and we hit several thrift stores and consignment shops. Those who know me know I don’t believe in coincidence. In one shop, I saw another lady but didn’t really look at her. As I turned, she said, “ANN??” Imagine my surprise in seeing a face I had not seen in 40+ Years! We went to highschool together! I always really liked her. We chatted and caught up. She had worked in the nursing field and was passionate about the elderly. She had married, adopted a son, then had a daughter. They lived in Texas. Her husband died several years ago so she moved back to MS. While we were talking, Johnny walked up and I introduced them. She then told us that her son had died at 17 a few years ago. He had been shot. She said he had fallen in with the wrong group . Then she said, “he was on the phone with the dispatcher when he died. He was still holding his phone” I saw Johnny’s face change. Backstory: about the last year he worked with the sheriff’s dept, a young man was shot behind a house. Johnny and his partner scoured the neighborhood frantically to find him. The dispatcher was on the phone with him and he couldn’t tell her where he was. Just as they rounded the corner at the right house, the dispatcher said she lost contact with him. He still had the phone to his ear but was gone. This has haunted Johnny for years. They tried so hard to find him.
When she said that, Johnny asked her if it was here in town and where. He gently told her how he and his partner had tried so hard to find him.
We were all in tears. She grabbed Johnny and sobbed. She said, “Thank you! I was afraid no one had tried to find him because he was a bad kid.” Johnny sees no bad kids. Some closure was provided for this mother and for my husband.
Our Father is so very faithful.
Be blessed.
