A cosy dining area ....
..... which will be even cosier when we’ve cleared the boxes. In the longer term, I think we’ll be changing the colour – just a bit dark for my taste. We hope to find a more discreet place for the freezer.
It rained, quite hard at times, all day. But it was the end of a reasonably productive day. Our clothes are largely sorted in the fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom. We’ve been assured our beds will arrive on Saturday. We connected up the washing machine and cleared one load of the accumulated dirty linen.
We then went to Waterford, where we bought a replacement fridge freezer. We started in Harvey Norman, where the service was exemplary – M greeted us, showed us some options, left us to browse, and was polite when we said we wanted to look elsewhere before making a final decision. We then went a short distance to Curry’s, where there was no service whatsoever. They didn’t have the one we’d seen online, and which had seemed like our best option, visible on the shop floor, and with no-one taking any interest in us, we gave up and returned to our first shop, where we made our final choice. Harvey Norman in Galway is where we bought our beds. We had been equally impressed with the service there, but they’ve made a complete mess of the delivery – though admittedly we helped in creating chaos by moving the delivery destination to our new house. We have to hope that the same thing doesn’t happen with the fridge. We’ve been promised delivery for Saturday if there’s room on the van delivering the beds, or failing that, for Monday.
Then early dinner at a hotel near Waterford – the same hotel we’d stayed in overnight in January – and a bit of shopping in New Ross – now we have a functioning freezer, and hopefully a fridge very soon, we can start to actually cook meals for ourselves.
