Valley of the Nuns

No nuns here today. Arrived by bus after much research of bus timetables and bus stops. Felt it was an achievement to arrive at our destination- and set off down winding paths towards the levada walk. This should have been a 5 hour walk down towards Funchal but … some locals warned that it was closed and dangerous. Of course we had to check that out for ourselves. Sure enough, the path way has collapsed in places and trees and rocks have covered other areas. So, about turn, back up to the village, lunch and then bus back to Funchal.
Not a wasted day - still an adventure!
