Start of the Cotswolds

Not that you can see much but this is pretty much where the Cotswolds begin. This is viewed from Brockworth Business Park, which used to be the airfield of Gloster Aircraft Company. Gloucester spelling was changed to Gloster to make it easier for foreign customers to pronounce, and I suppose it made more sense to them! 
It is where the first allied jet took to the air, for test flights. The Gloster Whittle E28/39 had it's official first flight at RAF Cranwell, in 1941 after being transported there rather than flying. 
Although Frank Whittle invented the Turbojet engine in 1928 the E28/39 was the fourth Jet produced. I have been told that due to the lack of funding from the British government the plans were sold to Germany who had the first aircraft flying just days before the outbreak of WW2.

You can see the low cloud which is often present on the hills, so when you travel up Crickley Hill, and continue in the direction of Burford and Oxford, you often encounter mist and fog.
Mostly raining here, very little snow, unlike some in the UK.
