The red dress.

I've been to an art installation today at Stockton-on-Tees museum.

50 countries 
13 years to make

The dress was created by embroiderers from all over the world. All women. Many of them very poor and they were paid to stitch their traditional designs on to parts of the dress. It is an amazing dress. 
There was also beautiful traditional  clothing provided by the people of the area that have moved to this area or whose parents or grandparents have moved here. Many of the garments have been used for weddings or celebrations. 
A fitting tribute to International Women's day.
