Worm's Eye View
I got a distant shot of a beautiful green woodpecker which had flown up from the Donkey Field this morning. I'm going to creep round there on my morning walks hoping to better it.
I photographed this coal tit from below this afternoon alerted by its call. Nice to see one. They're a bit less common than the other tits. They like to feed in conifers.
PS Just seen the gorgeous Worm Moon, the last full moon of winter. In the 1760s, Captain Jonathan Carver visited the Naudowessie (Dakota) and other Native American tribes and wrote that the name Worm Moon refers to a sort of “worm”—beetle larvae—which begin to emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts at this time.
