Libya

Thank you to Hotmandarins for the latest contribution to our photo album of locations mentioned in Lorna Lloyd's Diary of the war (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal, and now available as a podcast series). 

The Hotmandarins Blipforo journal is shared by a couple called Tim and Sharon. Tim's Desert Rat grandfather took this photograph, probably some time between 1941 and 1943 in Libya. These months came just after Lorna was forced to give up her chronicle of World War II due to her declining health, and her eventual death aged 28 on 2nd February 1942.

Lorna mentions Libya twice in her journal. Both times are with reference to Operation Compass at the end of 1940: first on 10th December, and then two days later on 12th. These diary entries are the last two featured in Episode 7 of the podcast series of the Diary of the war.

We still have 21 pictures to find to complete this album, as noted in the list below. If you have a suitable shot - either of a place(s), or something that could represent it (them) - please send your contribution(s) (not previously blipped) to h.hall@napier.ac.uk to feature alongside the others that we have been blipping here since 13th July 2022. 

To complete this blipper bingo challenge, we are not necessarily expecting submissions that are literally of  all the places sought. Otherwise we risk never completing it! If you look back of our photographs for the River Marne, Dakar, Chad, Mafeking and Romagna, for instance, you'll see that there are ways of representing locations without actually having been in situ to photograph them.
