A Mixed Weather Bag

The weather continues the same.  I think of it as magnified spring showers. Spring weather is always an unpredictable mix of showers , sun and fluffy white clouds, but snow on local peaks and hail on our own roof are hardly typical. The forecast continues the same every day until the middle of March, which is as far as predictions go.

We bid good-bye to Matt and Claire this morning as they set off for a detour through San Francisco and the Museum of Modern Art. on their way home. Claire will be graduating from Vassar this June with a major in business art, or the art of business, or something. I think she would like to work in a gallery in New York and already has quite a few connections. We had several conversations about conceptual art, which I had to admit to her I don't really "get". Perhaps the point of it is to promote conversations just like we were having. It was really fun to have them here. It seems very quiet as we fall back into our regular routine.

It makes me feel old but also very proud as I watch our grandchildren make their way from college to career...not an easy task these days. I don't envy them, but the 'bigs' are all finding their way and becoming socially and financially independent, and the 'littles', probably group most challenged by Covid restrictions struggle to find their way back into a more 'normal' life.

I love color and when the sun was shining as we drove to Kathy's today, the challenge was to capture the capricious weather and the lovely landscape in a mono image. I liked the way the big rocks  mirror the clouds in a sort of conceptual challenge and way the solar panel that runs the gate opener contrasts with the old fashioned rural mailbox. Although they don't appear in this image, the blooming cherry trees across the road were a contrast with the bare branches of the trees silhouetted against the sky .
