Beaky Breakfast
My mother told me that the first directive sentence she heard me say as a young child was a request that she make waffles.
I still love waffles and, after serious tribulations over a number of years, learned to make them fairly successfully.
On Saturdays I occasionally will do waffle-craft for breakfast, and this morning was one of those days.
The last scrapings from the batter bowl go to make little pet-size waffles, and today was a success all around.
I used our blender to make oat flour from rolled oats, threw some in a bowl along with some (unmeasured) ingredients as I usually do, and today I was unusually attentive to the waffle iron so didn't burn any, even the last fast-cooking little ones that I will dole out to our cockatoo Gracie.
And, we had leftover waffles even more suitable for toasting than the store-bought frozen variety.
Yumm!
