Ian Duhig
At The Leeds Library at a special edition of Nowt But Verse with the wonderful Hannah Stone in conversation with Ian Duhig. As well as being a great poet, Ian is an incredible storyteller. I could have listened to him all afternoon.
It's a great format for an event, allowing poets to talk about the creative process through which their poetry emerges. For me, I get so much more from individual poems when I better understand the context, and there's space to regroup in between each one.
At traditional poetry readings my brain starts turning to mush after about four of five poems. These events work much better. I don't think I'm alone in that respect.
