Where the deer live................

This morning we walked more than 7 miles on our 'Braid Hills' normal route. We went there because Ann knows that is where the deer live. The deer live in these prickly bushes behind me in this Blip. I've only ever seen the deer there once, when it was snowy. I went zooming into the bushes and flushed out 3 of them, but they were running far too fast for me, so I came back to Ann.

Ann wanted to try an experiment today............. She wanted to take me to where the deer live, to see if after my naughty behaviour on Wednesday, I had actually got a sense of 'deer scent' and would go off looking for them, even if I couldn't see them.

I didn't. Phew!!! My behaviour this morning was perfect.

Ann kept calling me back every 2 mins, tickling me behind my ears and telling me I was a good girl?! What's all that then about then? It was like I was a weeny, teeny, puppy in training again (but at least then I also got treats?!!) For the last 3 years, I've just been let of my lead to do my own thing and I only have to go back to Ann when it's time to have my lead put back on again and I'm always quite happy to be clipped back onto my lead after I've had run about time?!! Apparently she was testing my recall. Well, everyone knows my recall is perfect unless I'm chasing and there wasn't even any squirrels out playing for me to chase today.

She's thinking of buying me a 'sheepdog whistle' and training me to respond to that. She thinks I might enjoy the training. Mmmmm.......... I probably would, but she needs to read up on it first to make sure she teaches me properly.
