Whoosh

Thanks to Paula for the heads up on the local murmuration of starlings https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3078059863675243127

Tricky buggers to photograph with the phone camera but at least you get the feel of the whoosh as they sweep and swirl overhead. I’m amazed I came away unscathed as it rained birdshit! At times, as I gazed up into the middle of the maelstrom, it felt as if the fabric of the universe was shimmering like sheer silk as if a portal was thinning and tantalisingly, liminally suggestive of another world just out of reach.

The morning was spent on catching up with bits and bobs of domestic stuff and then I went early and had a bit of a walk along the line of the old Roman road that eventually ends up at Appleby and another short walk along a path that led to a rail track leading from the mine to the gypsum works (extra).

The old neighbour on the other side of my old place has been in touch to get the contact details of the old landlord, feeling rather desperate about the state of the old place. I think the council should have the option to take it, and others like it, into state ownership and let it to folks who would be grateful for a home.
