Time To Go

After twenty year as Chairman of the Falmouth Branch of the Royal Naval Association tonight I stood down, handing over the reins to my friend, Roy Wright. It’s been a roller coaster of emotions since I made the decision, initially looking forward to it, then wondering if I would miss it and the attention that goes with it and then the acceptance that it’s the right thing to do.
I enjoyed the whole experience but was almost overwhelmed and lost for words by the gift I received. The picture doesn’t really do it justice, it contains pictures of the ships badges, both shore based and afloat, cap badges denoting my progress through the ranks, medal ribbons a challenge coin and other artefacts that mean a great deal to me.
In the course of my career I have received a few farewell gifts but this tops them all, very humbled.
A beer or three with my fellow branch members before being picked up by Mrs S and taken home.
Great Day.
