Mini Hibiscus

Last autumn, I pruned my mother’s hibiscus, which had grown too lanky. I kept some of the cuttings, planted them in pots and kept them moist, hoping to grow a new plant for myself. They all still seem to be alive (or at least not completely dead), but are very slow in growing any new leaves. This one produced a lovely flower instead. Only time will tell whether it’s a good sign, or just a last attempt to produce offspring.

I went for a walk to the farm shop today, to buy locally grown apples and look for a blip. But it’s a grey and dull day, and although I spotted buzzards, woodpeckers and squirrels, they didn’t pose for a photo. The hibiscus, however, did.
