Versailles
Despite the weather we've had a lovely day in Versailles. We arrived at lunch time, checked into the hotel and then went for something to eat before heading to the Palace. We only wanted something light as we're eating out tonight, but everywhere we looked only had lunch time menus - so we ended up at McDonald's, and thoroughly enjoyed it!
We've visited the Palace before so just wanted to spend the time in the gardens but as mum was with us, and it was threatening to rain Alan said we should hire an electric buggy to get around in. I think really he wanted an excuse to drive one and he was in his element! I have to say though, it was great fun and I had a go at driving it too :-) For mum it was ideal, we visited most of the gardens and went inside the Grand Trianon which was Marie-Antoinette's domaine - mum was happy as she hadn't seen this before.
We had the buggy for 2.5 hours and when we dropped it off, the sky was getting very dark, so we decided to call it a day and stopped off at a cafe for a drink - the timing was great because no sooner had we got inside, the heaven's opened and it rained very heavily for quite.
We've been back to the hotel for a while and are now going out for something to eat. Tomorrow we're heading into Paris for the day, so apologies if I don't comment over the next couple of days, I only have limited wifi while we're at the hotel.
