Abstract Shifting Sands

We visited a beach that I know very well and so I was surprised to see that the shape of the sands had changed considerably. 

I can only assume that big storms over the Winter had shifted large volumes of sand to create an enormous sand bank. I would imagine that if it continues to rise, a lochan will form as there will be nowhere for the river to flow to.  

I shall watch with interest.
