Proper beef
I fitted in a fair amount today in an unplanned sort of way which I like. The forecast was good and I was up early so I got the bus to Stobhill Hospital, or as close as the 57A would take me, and completed another 2 squares of my badger survey. It took me some time to find a way into the scrubland which seemed to behind the secure adolescent unit, a detour to the Stobhill Care Home gave me excellent access. I was thrilled to find three setts, one with two entrances, evidence of paths used by badgers (possibly) and a great many snuffle holes. Unfortunately the key piece of evidence, badger hair, was missing so I can’t record them as active sites. I’m tempted to go back with a decent torch and a magnifying glass.
I came back into town via the Hospital bus, the M3 I think, which took ages and gave me a fascinating tour of Shuggie Bain territory. This sign outside a butcher’s shop in Sighthill made me smile. Conveniently the road sign obscures the mild obscenity.
Back home I experimented with Costa Rican beans and rice (Gallo Pinto), chicken, and roast pineapple with tempered dark chocolate. Son #1 who doing another shift with ERMS has just wolfed it down. This, to some extent, has given me the confidence to repeat it when P comes for lunch tomorrow.
And in between times I ran 6k with a chatty group of RunTalkRun folk. It was almost still light when we started, head torches probably only required for another couple of weeks.
