hot spot

The best bit about my garden is our back wall. It's older than our house and has intrigued our street's residents for many years. I went to the library with my neighbour a few years back to research our street's history and found the old wall on the historical maps.

It was a border wall for the property which stood here before ours was built. It turns out that a rather grand property was bought and demolished to build rows of smaller terraced houses here a hundred years ago.

A sad side to progress.

The reason I love it is that our garden is north facing... which makes this wall south facing. We have built decking and this little area is an oasis of warmth and seclusion.
