When I flew out to Birmingham last Wednesday, despite everyone supposedly having gone through passport control before the gate, staff checked again, we all lined up and showed our documents, sensible really as one guy got sent home for only having his Ausweis and not his passport…
Yesterday, on the return trip, all those with British passports were told to check that their passports were signed* or risk being barred from entry into Germany.

Also on my return trip, my taxi driver between my parents house to Birmingham airport turned out to have studied for his degree in Essen…what a crazy world.
