Isle of Cumbrae

Saturday 11th

The weather was quite wet and grey as we set off for Cowal and our holiday cottage at Ardlamont.
We headed for Perth then on to Crieff, the weather was still grey and wet with no sign of it improving the further west we went.
We decided not to stop at Inverary but headed on to Lochgilphead to do some grocery shopping at the Co-op there.
Grocery shopping done we headed on to Tarbert to catch the ferry for Portavadie.
The ferry crossing only takes about thirty minutes but saves a lengthy car journey.
From Portavadie we headed for Millhouse and onto Ardlamont.
The cottage is set in the Ardlamont Estate and has views of the northern tip of Arran and also Kintyre unfortunately the weather has started to close in and these views are obscured by the rain and low cloud.
We took a quick trip into Tighnabruaich and noticed some changes since our last visit.
There is a very swish new house built on the site of an older 50's bungalow and the Tighnabruaich Gallery has opened a lovely new tea room next door to the gallery.
Only time for a quick walk along the seafront between rain showers the back to our little cottage.
