It's porridge Jim but not as we know it

Apologies to any Scots out there, but when I was food shopping yesterday and looking for porridge, I picked up these Irish Jumbo Oats. I prefer the jumbo oats to the regular stuff anyway which always reminds me of sawdust. I usually go for good old Scotts or if I can get them, Jordans. Both very nice, but you know what, the packaging on this bag just grabbed me, and even though they were quite a bit more expensive, I couldn't resist. The power of marketing, and in particular, the power of visual imagery.

Whilst on the subject of porridge, the pack quotes the calories etc for a typical serving made with water. Call me a heathen if you like, but water! Come on, it's got to be milk, and don't even get me onto the idea of adding salt. I tried it once and spat it out. Grated apple and Australian honey is the way to go.

Fairly quiet day today. Brought myself a NAS drive which arrived yesterday. Very easy to set up, but its taking forever to copy files across. Not really convinced it is worth the effort. only time will tell.
