Missing Mum and Dad today

I often think about Dad when walking the paths we walked together in his old age. This view of the level of the water over the weir was always checked.

Today Dad would have been watching his team Newcastle United in a Cup Final something he would have enjoyed regardless of defeat to Manchester United. I cancelled Sky Sports so I just listened to the Radio Commentary. This always makes me remember the pre-SkyTV days when we would play Scrabble while a Football Match was on the Radio.

When I retired from work I watched all of  Inspector Morse with Mum one Winter afternoon after the next Winter afternoon till it was finished. In the following years after a sceptical start we did enjoy Endeavour and especially Roger Allam as Fred Thursday. As the story continued Fred was an important character in the young Morse’s life.  So we discussed, without any satisfactory solution, why John Thaw’s depiction of the older Morse would never have mentioned Fred Thursday ?

Starting in a few minutes I get to find out over the next 3 weeks.  I hope it is something we would both have found credible
