Long Lands Common newt pond
Longlands Common is a community owned woodlands project for Harrogate and Knaresborough. By purchasing shares in the project, 30 acres of greenbelt land near Nidd gorge were recently acquired by local supporters. This photo shows one of three ponds dug last summer which it is hoped will become home to the common toad, common frog, smooth newt and Great Crested Newts.
Future plans include the planting of trees, a wildflower meadow, a sensory garden and various other facilities.
It was starting to rain when this shot was taken, so I didn't manage any other blip-worthy shots.
