Neko Harbour
We explored Neko Harbour on the eastern shore of Andvord Bay. It was discovered by de Gerlache during his Belgian Antarctic expedition (1897-1899). This site has a flourishing colony of 1200 breeding pairs of gentoo penguins.
“The ice was here, the ice was there, the ice was all around: it cracked and growled, and roared and howled, like noises in a swound!” (The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Samuel Taylor Coleridge)
Warm wishes for a restful weekend fellow blippers. It’s only -4ºC and beautiful Antarctic summer weather.
