Failing To Charm The Birds Into The Trees

Today continued with the pattern of grey days and again I felt I had misplaced my photographic mojo.
It was getting late in the afternoon when I got this shot standing just outside my back door looking across to the nearby treetops as the gloom gathered apace. I stood there for what felt like ages (it was probably only ten minutes) waiting for more birds to appear in the branches - in fact I was hoping for a murder of crows (the group term for these corvids) to lend this image a more Hitchcockian vibe but in the end only a sole pigeon materialised neutralising the sinister atmosphere I was trying to create!
