Snow on Silver Cholla Cactus
The weather predictions for the next few days in southern California are pretty bleak, but not expected to deteriorate until later today. We had plans to visit friends in the Palm Springs area so decided to set out early and go via Joshua Tree National Park which would make the trip a bit longer.
We stopped at the Willow Hole trail and took a 4 mile hike, during which it started to snow. We weren't totally dressed for the snow but we managed well enough. The drive through the park mountains was just magnificent and when we got to the other side into Riverside County, it was sunny and about 20 degrees warmer.
I have added a couple of extras of trip through the Joshua Tree mountains and then in the valley below where everything changed. Both were taken from the car.
