Snow - shadows

Snow is white, plain white. On its own snow does not make for an exciting photo. Often the snow is some sort of background medium and an image becomes snow + something. Today the "+" is the shadows on the snow, both in this main picture and in the extra (where the shadow is solid and blue/black, and the snow solid and white). Other times it may be the sculpted forms the snow takes, or snow in a landscape. Yesterday it was the tracks in the snow.
As Jan and I walked today we talked about how the snow continues to amaze and impress us. Even after more than 40 snowy winters we are still in love with snow. Of course, when the snow is new and the sky a pure blue that's not difficult, but even on grey days, or when the snow is icy, or pouring down from the sky, or when you know there's a few hours of digging required to clear away the snow, even then we still love snow!
