B-17 Aircraft named "Aluminum Overcast"

One of remaining thirteen B-17 aircraft that are airworthy, "Aluminum Overcast", is visiting Eugene this weekend.

My neighbor and I saw it fly over our houses on final approach to the Eugene Airport yesterday.

I was so pleased to have seen it fly over; he informed me of its weekend stay.

As soon as I could arrange it this morning I was out at the airport.

Aluminum Overcast is very expertly restored and very authentic in all its details.

I was able to walk around her, watch her crew fire up the engines, and taxi down the apron.

Her take off was a newsreel of another era in aviation.

Quite a treat.
