The Nest
It's been a much colder, windy, and dull day today. This morning, Martin and I went to the local Green where we checked on, and cleaned out the bird boxes we put up on the trees a few years ago. One box contained a very definite nest and a discarded, unhatched, egg. I think it is probably a Great Tit's egg. (I photographed it next to a one pound coin for scale). I never cease to be amazed by what birds find to incorporate in their nests. This one contains some bits of colourful fleece and animal hair, as well as moss and other plant material.
This afternoon I caught up with some correspondence and phone calls.
