Bloom and Thrive

Aren't these flowers cold?
How do they have the resiliency to thrive now?
These are the early bloomers.
The ones that aren't afraid to pop up and see what's happening.
The ones that open up to the world as trendsetters,
As harbingers of what is to come.  
I was not an early bloomer.  
I took my time to unfold.  
Growing up I always stayed in the background
Until I knew it was safe to be seen.
But now, at this late stage, I have changed my tune.
I am a visionary who steps outside the confines of the norm.
I trust myself, listen to myself.
I pop my head up to see what's happening
And then decide what makes me thrive.
