La petite ceinture (Paris 15e)

Overcast here today, but J and I ventured out this afternoon to explore a section of the "petite ceinture" in the 15th arrondissement. "La petite ceinture" was a rail line that transported people from 1862-1934 and then (in this area) industrial products for the Citroen factory and the Vaugirard abattoir (now parc André Citroen and parc Georges Brassens) up until the 1970s. This house was split to allow its construction. A former train station on the line, called "Voie 15", is now a café and co-working facility. There is no planting along the path and lots of graffiti, but it felt safe and was well travelled, especially by dogs and their walkers.

We also stopped in to Eglise Saint-Christophe de Javel. We can see this church's steeple across the river from our apartment. It opened in 1930 as a church for the workers in the nearby Citroen factory. I like the mural (see extra), showing people offering motorcycles, trains, hot air balloons and airplanes to Jesus and Saint Christopher.
