Alice Neel at The Barbican

I wasn't sure I'd make it to see this exhibition, but I decided to make my life easier and drive there. I'm so glad I did.

Alice Neel's work seems like a diary of the 20th century. I love her brush strokes and the intimacy she evokes in her subjects. Especially those in Spanish Harlem. I also like the way her style evolved over time. There was always an active intellect there.

For anyone confused by the Barbican but prepared to do the same, head for Silk Street car park 3 then head for the cinema lifts. The same set of lifts will take you to the art gallery on level 3 and the brasserie on level 2.

Enjoy!
