Horse chestnut tree

This huge tree stands at the entrance to the park. A few years ago some kids decided to have a BBQ underneath it and somehow managed to set fire to it and the whole thing went up in flames. The fire brigade were called and it was a major operation to put out the fire. I remember going to see it a few days later and there was just the blackened trunk left - no-one thought it would suvive.
I've not given it much thought since then as I usually use another entrance but today I was passing so I went to have a look at it.. Now you would never know anything had happened as it is just as big and healthy as it ever was. Isn't nature wonderful.
