Aurora borealis

An early start to a very exciting day.  As the weather forecast for the next two days is for bright sunny weather we were taking full advantage of this.  So an early start before sunrise and visiting various locations around Leknes.  First we headed to a beach to photograph the magnificent scenery of the mountains from the Haukland beach.  We travelled around various locations stopping to photograph small fishing villages, and more mountainous scenery. An exciting and full on day.  

There was a possible chance of the Aurora being visible this evening so after a quick evening meal we stopped at a nearby point where the aurora could just be seen in the sky.  Not knowing whether it would continue to be visible we just got out the car to enjoy the moment incase it was not around further afield.  We next returned to Haukland Beach which we visited this morning and were happy to see some aurora developing.  Apparently this was not a particularly strong one but those of us who hadn't seen them before were quite happy.  We spent several hours out taking shots as the sea slowly came in.  It certainly takes some getting use to operating your camera in the dark.
