De-cluttering (3)

Not much progress was made yesterday or again today but we did uncover our first ever Hi-Fi amplifier, purchased back in 1974 for the princely sum of £44.35 (quite a lot in those days)! We even found the receipt for it, dated 18/5/74 from Comet in Edinburgh in an old file. The amp was bought along with a Pioneer PL12D turntable (£37.97) and a Shure cartridge (£7.95). We recall that was a very happy day as we rushed home to set it up and play - Fairport Convention, perhaps - who knows what? The equipment was the thing!

We loved that old amp and, even now, strain to part with it. It probably still works, though it's been a few years since it was last tested. We wondered about keeping the smart wooden box it sits in to use for a home-made PC, or something like it. But the chance of that happening amidst all the other priorities is pretty small. So, regretfully, it needs to go.
