Whooper Swan in High Winds

I got the bus up to Birsay and headed to the hide at RSPB The Loons in hope of seeing a bittern reported from there. I've never seen one- they aren't common anywhere and are very shy. I had no luck, perhaps the very high wind discouraged it from coming into the open. It was seen yesterday and I doubt it departed overnight, given the gales. This image shows a whooper swan facing the wrong way in terms of the north wind. The extra shows it in its more elegant style. There were three there and also a hen harrier, 3 gadwall, a pair of shoveler, c150 curlew etc. I got a shot of colour rings on one curlew and forwarded it to the person who probably ringed the bird locally.
