Having tea and toasted hot cross buns with A before she went back home we spotted a young squirrel hiding/ resting between my kitchen window and the window box. We face timed the wee ones to show them and ended up having a long chat about the shells AR had found on the beach when they’d gone this week during half term, and about facts she’d learnt from reading recently (love that she’s at this stage at the moment…voraciously picking things up and a veritable wee sponge with information). Apparently Henry VIII cheated by making coins of copper with only the thinnest covering of silver and with use the coating rubbed off, usually over his nose on the coin, so he was known as ‘coppernose’. Also, Dodo in Portuguese means ‘stupid’ (the ‘s’ word she’d told me was banned at school!) so, given that’s what they call me, it led to lots of taboo giggles.
Left them to get ready for tennis and dropped A and Paisley at their car, then home for some tidying up. I nipped out for some food shopping and took a look at the Persian carpets in the shop nearby as A is considering getting one for their sitting room but I forgot to take photos of them to send her so we’ll have to go another time.
Did some catch up emails on various homeswap plans and gradually got caught up on some other admin, but then decided to have a bit of chill out time and watched the last couple of episodes of Ted Lasso…apparently a new series starts in a couple of weeks so I’ve timed it well.
Chatted to R and texted back and forth with T, had some supper and a quiet evening. Pleased I haven’t had aching legs today, but have enjoyed a very lazy day regardless.
