It’s not supposed to be like this
Hearts sank as the dark clouds appeared after a morning of blue sky and sunshine, but rose again when they decided to pass us by. Disheartening all the same for our first day in Gran Canaria.
Yesterday’s flight was half an hour late leaving Dublin, but our pilot made up the lost time and we arrived more or less on schedule. Our pre-booked taxi was waiting for us and swept us down the motorway to the dear old bungalow complex we’ve grown to love over the many times we’ve stayed here. After settling in we headed over to the Yumbo Centre, me on my mobility scooter rental and Carl doing his best to keep up.
It’s a bit of a tradition at this stage to eat in Miramar restaurant on our first night here. It was unsettlingly quiet, but the meal was just what the doctor ordered and the staff were wonderfully welcoming as always. Food over, we made our way to Bar Eiffel, one of our favourite haunts. It’s changed hands since we were last here, unfortunately, and our cocktails were rather disappointing.
Today was mostly about getting in supplies to fill the fridge and so on. Plans for tonight are the usual: food and drink.
