The cook and me
Up and out to travel through Suffolk and spend a lovely couple of hours with the in-laws. Haven’t seen them for an age and we had some goodly catch ups while they inspected my van.
Then back the way I came, collected my mum at the train station and over to Gloria’s for the theatrical event of the year- her village production of The Railway Children. This was one of my favourite books along with Danny the Champion of the World. My auntie Gloria was playing three different types of domestic ladies, each with a carefully crafted different accent.
Before all that we went for a pizza with Jack, Neil and Sandi. Smashing it was. Poor Neil’s face when Sandi decided loft club was a fantastic idea and they would apply it to their cellar.
Then off to the show. Blimey, it was simply ever so good. Fabulous acting, so much hard work had gone into it, the children themselves were superb. Loved every minute, including the last 10 that I spent crying.
And I nabbed a picture with the Irish cook at the end. After she turned back into Gloria, we went back to their house for wine, snacks and some fine chats.
And then I went to bed in my van in the driveway. What a great day!
