The Southern Lapwing
This is the Southern Lapwing (known in Argentina as the Tero comun, and in Latin as Vanellus chilensis (fretensis)). They are extremely common all over Argentina and in the south tend to squawk, parrot like, as they fly overhead. This was shot this cold morning on the shore of Lake Lacar, in San Martín de los Andes, where many birds had congregated.
