"PEEPO"
We went to Hockley Wood this morning to see if we could see any signs of the great spotted woodpeckers we had seen excavating a nest a few weeks ago.
We waited for two hours', no signs. We were amused by treecreepers and jays and other small woodland birds. We were just about to pack up when we saw movement at the hole. The female flew in and out several times - she was obviously cleaning the nest and feeding the young. There were several young, if the chirping we could hear was anything to go by.
Apologies for the blurred image (again) but it has been quite exciting following the development of these birds.
